WDI University Partnerships

For many years, WDI has partnered with local universities including the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto to offer co-operative placement positions to students enrolled in various engineering programs.  Eligible programs include electrical, mechanical and mechatronics engineering as well as physics, mathematics and software engineering.

In 2023 along with the Weiss Family, WDI partnered with the University of Waterloo to create the Adam Weiss Community Leadership Awards.  These two monetary awards are given annually to full-time undergraduate student enrolled in year two, three or four of select programs in the Faculties of Engineering, Science or Mathematics.  These awards are transformational for hardworking and talented students, giving them the opportunity to pursue their interests and build successful careers.

In 2024 along with the Weiss Family, WDI partnered with the University of Toronto to create an endowment fund for the benefit of the University of Toronto’s student awards program for undergraduate students enrolled in a Biological Sciences program at the University of Toronto Scarborough. This fund, which includes matched monetary amounts from the University of Toronto, provides students with the opportunity to expand and explore their studies in Biological Sciences.
